Underactive thyroid & pregnancy

Hi; Ive had an underactive thyroid for about 10 years but was missed by doctors on some bloods for 7 years. Been on medication for about 3 but am now 9 weeks pregnant with my second (I didn't have this with my first- was because of 1st pregnancy I got it). I'm really struggling- I'm so tired all the time, more so than I was with my 1st pregnancy, I'm feeling all the time also. I've got to wait for a consultant to come back to em regarding my meds & them potentially changing but I know they need to. I feel awful all the time. I just wondered if anyone had had a similar situation? I just want to cry & throw my self on to a fire to warm up!x

Hi @SammyBe3 sorry to hear you feel so awful. I have just been diagnosed with this and I feel pretty rough and I’m not pregnant so can’t imagine how bad you must feel. No advice but hoping you get some help and start to feel better soon

Hello lovely congratulations!

Please make a Gp appointment ASAP and get your bloods tested. Your tsh should be below 2.5, nearer one is better. As then to check the nice guidelines and show them the below link.

Don't worry if it's not; mine was around tsh 13 at your stage and my son is fine, but I was poorly and had to wait for the dose increase to kick in.

@FlissMumsnet this really should be a sticky or a mn campaign as gps do not routinely tell patients they need to be monitored. It's appalling this is still being missed.
