Constructive criticism on painting please.

Hi. I've started painting again after a long break (5 years maybe) I just sort of lost my motivation to paint. I've done a few paintings in the past week and the one I've uploaded is the best one of the bunch.

I can see a few issues my self. I think the colour balance is off slightly on the bottom part. I would also have liked a lot more texture (it has some but I like more). Also a few darker patches in the sky area I don't like but the the paint was drying so fast I didn't blend it out in time.

I love working with undilluted oil paints but it's proving too expensive at the moment so I've been using acrylics (mainly undilluted), which are in my opinion not as nice to work with. I think that's why I've been struggling to get the textures I want. I also found my white paint was not of a great quality and used loads and loads and it's still a bit too transparent in places.

I did contemplate adding a little pop of colour somewhere but couldn't decide what to add so just left it as is.

Any constructive criticism for me so I can improve on the next one.

(and not feel compelled to go spend a small fortune on oil paints and texture mediums)

Constructive criticism on painting please.

I was browsing for craft ideas and found your picture. First of all: I like it. It's definitely the sort of style I'm into, and I would hang it on one of my walls, buy it as a greetings card etc.

CC? Looking at the pic, I think it's a little too skewed to the left in the reflection. Unless perhaps you added a brighter light source? I think it might benefit from some colour (I'm imagining the red coat in Schindler's List...) possibly blue, teal or citrus yellow.

But most of all - and I genuinely mean this in a non-patronising way - well done for getting back into it. The first step/stroke is the hardest, so don't lose faith. I would love to be as talented as you are.

In fact, if you ever do anything similar - fantasy 'street/urban' scenes - I would be interested in buying something, just PM me.

I know this is old, forgive me, I'm learning how to navigate this site!
I like this, I love the water.
For a splash of colour maybe a little cherry tree on one of the rocks on the right (not central though) or a red apple/piece of clothing/teddy bear quietly sinking in the water, just under the surface...
