Look at it. Brought the wool from wilkos for making a Christmas present scarf but I've fallen in love with the colours so might keep it for myself. Look at the pretty!

I have boxes of pretty yarn. It's addictive...

SocksRock Sun 15-Nov-15 19:33:14

This pair of socks currently on my needles :-)

comeagainforbigfudge Sun 15-Nov-15 19:36:00

I wish I could master the knitting skill

Or crocheting! sadenvy

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 19:36:10

Oooh that is lovely socks
I'm too scared to knit any socks. They look hard grin

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 19:36:58

come I can do both <smug>
Can't do much else good in life though grin

SocksRock Sun 15-Nov-15 19:38:40

Socks are easy :-) go for DK first on 3.5mm needles, the Rye pattern by TinCanKnits is written for beginners.

It's the double pointed needles that baffle me. I could probably master it, but I'm too chicken

ouryve Sun 15-Nov-15 19:42:38

Those colours are stunning.

Long circular needles and magic loop were the breakthrough for me and sock knitting. Fewer points, less likelihood of ladders and less likelihood of a mischievous child pulling a needle out.

FattyNinjaOwl Sun 15-Nov-15 19:45:03

Ooh pretty...
I can knit scarves....and blankets, and hats and gloves. That is all. grin (I'm self taught and am a beginner) I love knitting mittens for the babies, they are quick and easy and I feel I've accomplished something grin

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 19:47:53

I taught myself knitting and crochet on YouTube.
I'm currently making a blanket out of crochet granny squares and now this scarf.
I realised it wasn't long till I need to post the secret Santa present so had to make a start incase something went horribly wrong or the toddler decided to wreck it grin

FattyNinjaOwl Sun 15-Nov-15 19:50:01

I've just started on a scarf. Then I need to make DD a new hat or 3, she throws them

SocksRock Sun 15-Nov-15 19:55:27

I use magic loop on a long circular for socks as well. Much easier than DPNs

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 20:35:13

What's a magic loop? Is it the same as the thing you do when crocheting? I can't do that very well. Usually ends up being thrown across the room while swearing profusely

Tucking show off

One day I will master it. Oh yes, one day I will.

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 21:09:40

You can do it come!!!

sooperdooper Sun 15-Nov-15 21:24:07

Oooo love your work, v pretty yarn everyone smile

I'm making a corner to corner crochet blanket to use up all my oddments of yarn so it's a bit of a mishmash - I've got so much to use I've promised myself I won't buy anymore until I've used this lot up!!

TuckingFablet Sun 15-Nov-15 21:46:32

OOOH pretty! sooper

FattyNinjaOwl Sun 15-Nov-15 22:47:21

That's nice sooper

This is my what will be a scarf grin

SocksRock Mon 16-Nov-15 07:03:35

Magic loop in knitting is where you use a long circular needle to knit in the round rather than DPNs.

sooperdooper Mon 16-Nov-15 12:41:52

Nice colours NinjaOwl - oooo I'm so tempted to buy more yarn now!!! In fact I wish I was at home on the sofa with a cuppa and my crochet rather than in work, meh

PeaceOfWildThings Mon 16-Nov-15 12:46:23

Oooh, these are all so lovely! I have a repair to make on a pair of socks I cut into just as I completed them...

And I'm thinking about a blanket for DH.

Marcipex Tue 11-Oct-16 21:24:51

Great socks, did you cut them?! Crikey.
