Look at it. Brought the wool from wilkos for making a Christmas present scarf but I've fallen in love with the colours so might keep it for myself. Look at the pretty!

Socks are easy :-) go for DK first on 3.5mm needles, the Rye pattern by TinCanKnits is written for beginners.

It's the double pointed needles that baffle me. I could probably master it, but I'm too chicken

Those colours are stunning.

Long circular needles and magic loop were the breakthrough for me and sock knitting. Fewer points, less likelihood of ladders and less likelihood of a mischievous child pulling a needle out.

Ooh pretty...
I can knit scarves....and blankets, and hats and gloves. That is all. Grin (I'm self taught and am a beginner) I love knitting mittens for the babies, they are quick and easy and I feel I've accomplished something Grin

I taught myself knitting and crochet on YouTube.
I'm currently making a blanket out of crochet granny squares and now this scarf.
I realised it wasn't long till I need to post the secret Santa present so had to make a start incase something went horribly wrong or the toddler decided to wreck it Grin

I've just started on a scarf. Then I need to make DD a new hat or 3, she throws them

I use magic loop on a long circular for socks as well. Much easier than DPNs

TuckingFablet · 15/11/2015 20:35

What's a magic loop? Is it the same as the thing you do when crocheting? I can't do that very well. Usually ends up being thrown across the room while swearing profusely

Magic loop in knitting is where you use a long circular needle to knit in the round rather than DPNs.

Nice colours NinjaOwl - oooo I'm so tempted to buy more yarn now!!! In fact I wish I was at home on the sofa with a cuppa and my crochet rather than in work, meh

Oooh, these are all so lovely! I have a repair to make on a pair of socks I cut into just as I completed them...

And I'm thinking about a blanket for DH.
