Yes. My dc have a purple square of chalk board paint in their room. I got it from B and Q too many years ago to remember the brand, sorry.

I bought some Annie Sloan chalk paint and was assured it is good for chalkboards in all colours - I guess you don't wax it over. If you don't want a big board a tester pot might do it.

from the website:
Any colour blackboard - as long as you use one of our terrific Chalk Paint colours. Have a Emperor's Silk or Monet Blue Blackboard for instance. Write on it with a stick of chalk and when you want to clean it off just wipe over with a damp cloth.

Yup b&q. Got some blue the other week. Limited colors yhough. Dark blue, black and possibly a sparkly one. They also do a magnet paint which we used for a border around black board you can make your own too. Tutorials on the net.

We used the blue stuff from B&Q to paint an old rectangular piece of chipboard which the DCs use to put the scalektrix on, and play with cars, chuggington train set, lego etc. They can draw whatever they want for the scenery and then just wipe if off if they want to change it. Great fun!
