scrapbooking frustrations...

I've planned a few pages but I'm getting frustrated. I have an idea of what I want, but I find it hard finding what I need. For example, I know what colour card I want to use, but I'm having problem locating it and I have a fair idea when I find it it's going to involve delivery charges etc.

Do you choose your photos and then use them to pick the rest? Or do you tend to make do more with what you have? It's looking to be slow (and expensive!)

Hi Lunavix
The golden rule with scrapboking is always chose your photos first then use the colours within the photos to decide on the colours of the paper/card you are using - and don't use more than 3 different colours.
I sell quite a lot of scrapbooking stuff, inclusing themes (christenings, wddings, party etc etc)and would be happy to help you out if I can. CAT me if you need.
Have you thought about using a kit which might make things a bit easier?
Got to rush off to eat but will check this thread later....

Hi!

No I'm not sure about kits, I want to put it together myself. My main problem atm is I've been looking through books for inspiration, and I'm getting some ideas but I feel like I'm stealing them (although the only thing I'm using is a photo placement!) I really want to do this I'm just worried I may lack the creativity to pull it off.

I've found a few bits I need so I'm feeling better now...

Don't worry about using other people's work for inspiration. It happens all the time. I have some sheets on layout ideas if you need them. Just give me a shout.
Good luck with it. I know what you mean about not wanting to get it wrong.....

hi lunavix.

Although i mostly follow the rule about finding pics first and then deciding on layouts, I often think about layouts first and find pics that would look good.

you can use paints, stamps, colouring pencils/pens, chalks and loads of other things to colour card if you can't find exact matches.

scrapping can be expensive but there are lots of things you can do to cut costs down eg:
using household and everyday things to use in layouts (don't put next to photo's if you're not sure of acidity,)colour matching as I mentioned before, making your own embellishments, and lots more.

using other peoples ideas is no bad thing when you're just getting started, you can always borrow ideas and adapt them and the more layouts you do the more you come up with your own ideas.

there are loads of sites that offer free p&p and if you join a forum there are often sponsors who do special offers and free p&p.
here's a site with free p&p

and my fave scrapping forum

Thanks for the links (cheekychops I'm meant to be getting a catalogue off you anyways aren't I?) I've realised perfection is my problem, I don't really want to start a page to look at it in a few weeks time and think 'I should have...' but I'm just going to do it!
