I would suggest you get hold of a book on beginners quilting (try your library if you don't want to buy one), and have a go at a cushion cover or bag/something smallish first. Most good beginners books will have a good beginners project in them too.

Also it will help you with deciding what "equipment" you need to start off.

Other than that, try to source a fabric shop where you can buy "fat quarters", ie 1/4 of a yard of material - that way you can buy a few different colours/patterns without spending a fortune.

Can't offer any more advice I'm afraid, I bought material and a book but never got any further!!!

Hi, my mum runs quilting days/weekend etc - where do you live ?

my mum also runs/helps out at a quilting club... and goes to all kinds of meetings/shows etc..
(in Reading, Berks)... let me know if you want anymore info I can find out for you.
