ssshhhh! Anyone thinking about making Christmas cards yet?

Just wanted to be nosey. For a few years I made some but last year I was very proud of myself for starting early enough to make them all, about 70. I have only made them for myself but might do some for others this year.

How do you decide wwhat to do? I usually think of a few themes and do a few cards around the same design, but each slightly differently, like varying the layout, paper, orientation etc. Do you tend to keep them more simple if you have so many to make?

I was thinking of going along with shaker cards this year, with stars inside. I prefer to make cards with a vague religious theme rather than Father Christmases etc (but that is personal to me, know everyone is different )

Anyone decided what they are going to do yet? Or am I the only one considering it this stage in the year?

Ive already started!

I found some lovely B&P's and am in the process of making up some samples.

Ive got lots of other ideas I want to put together for a christmas stall I am having at the local pannier market over the late night christmas shopping period. The theme is Victorian Christmas this year and there will be lots of other stalls selling hand crafted items.....but I am the only one selling cards....fingers crossed I will be busy.

Got a few xmas stamps 1/2 price in January sales, so I will try some of those out.

I usually try to make a couple from sratch IYSWIM. Just using very basic materials. I put a couple of those in the sshhh..xmas folder. Simple felt designs, and a hand cut shape of a penguin. The year before that I used white, torn card as snow layered on a navy card and cut the shape of snowmen. I had great fun making the little felt hats and scarves!!..and a button nose and 2 eyes made out of coal....!!! ooo getting all festive now!

I'm going to try & start soon. I thought of concentrating on a few basic designs & offer them in packs of 5 maybe. Then I could also try & do a few more complicated 'special' ones for family members/ special friends.

I made a lovely card for a card swap, and dh ahs ordered fifteen for his clients (thery're quite male cards)

Gatefold card, tore s strip of navy sugar paper for each side of the card, tore two narrow red sugar paper strips for each side then glued. Spirelli'd a Christmas tree (4" high) in black metallic thread, glued to left hand side so it overlapped gate, then added an angel to the top of tree- ones on order will lack angel though.

Quite happy with it, will make some more and also a few other spirelli baubles and snowballs. It's a new thing to me, but I think sparkly thread works well at Christmas.

Are we going to have a folder for Christmas cards on our yahoo site for people that want to swap or buy?

You can add one in your own album as and when you wish.

Maybe the next challenge could be a christmas theme!!!!

The last challenge took quite a bit of organising so perhaps we should have a rest until the summer is over. Its going to be tricky to get everyone to get their B&P's sorted with the summer holidays etc.

How about October for the start of the next challenge???
