I just want a basic shift s'less dress that i can make in a number of winter weight fabrics for playschool.

The easier the better.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've found 3 free toddler dress patterns which could be adapted for winter weight fabrics:

I have seen another one - which I can't find right now!! - the easiest way to describe this is that the lady drew around the shape of one of her dd's dresses. She also used alternate fabrics for the lining around the top of dress. Bad description? Hopefully it will 'turn up'.
