Dyeing with indigo

Has anyone done this ?

I have quite a bit of indigo raw dye and thought it was a good day to try it out but have never done it before.

There is a massive vat of 'traditional' mixed indigo outside which has been brewing for two years but it is in a 5 gallon bottle so should I pour it in to a big pot (letting air in) or not?
One batch of dye will be chemical free and the other batch done using thiox etc.

Also, does anyone know where to get proper dye vats eg 20 gallons plus and with a thermostat ?
