Need someone to find me an online knitting pattern PLEASE!

Bought some DK wool today to make ds3 a jumper, thinking I would have a DK pattern at home. I do not, or at least, not in his size.

I have spent last hour googling, trying to find an online pattern, but all I can find are patterns for adults, fancy patterns for children or links to ebay to buy patterns.

Trying to rope dh into helping me search but thought it would be easier to ask here.

These are the requirements:

Pattern must be for DK wool.

Ds3 is 5 years old so looking for something that covers his age, preferably 5-6, I think 24" chest.

A plain design or a cable design, but nothing too fancy as the wool is multicoloured.

Pattern must be downloadable and free.

Thanks is you can help. My memberhsip of Ravelry can't come soon enough!

Is there a secret to using that site MatNanPlus? I have even become a member so I can view some of the patterns more closely, but now I can't find my way back to them via the homepage.

OK, I finally worked out how to navigate that site but unfortunately, it is American and I really can't understand the technical side of it, eg wool size, and child sizes.

Effie, that first link was one I came across myself earlier and was just what I did not want (it has a lovely pattern but not suitable for the wool I have). The second link is absolutely gorgeous, I would love to knit that, but the age only goes up to 4 . That pattern aged 6 would be fantastic.

A bit girly, but thanks oogsfrog for looking. It does not say what thickness the wool is either, but judging by the tension, it would not be the same as DK.

they're th only plain freebies I could find on Ravelry for DK I'm afraid.

I can send you a copy of Action, a nice simply patterned (think raised zigzags, so sort of horizontal wavy rib, v. easy) jumper for boys. Knits up fine in either DK or Aran weights.
It is from the long-out-of-print Rowan Pipsqueaks book so I think it's reasonable to copy one pattern from this anthology.
I am on Ravelry and it is not in their online image bank, even.

That one looks ok oogsfrog, but what guarantee the wool is the same thickness as DK? It is American again, I note. I don't want to sound anti-American, but I would be more comfortable knowing what is meant by their wool types.

Try knitting a swatch Dumble and see if it matches .

Just an idea, but if it's multicoloured, why not just knit a simple v necked jumper in stst, to show off the colours.

Are you really? But that is a girl modelling it isn't it?

I do like it, but it looks like a tunic, hence more for my dd, than for my son.

Oh woe, I am looking at a Sirdar snuggly chunky knit pattern and wondering if I can get away with it.

twoluvlykids, yes I would (although I love complicated cable patterns too) but I need a pattern. I am not clever enough to make them up.

ok, DG done some more research, our DK is American Light Worsted, our Aran is their worsted here.

The Fair Isle Pattern is for DK, the smallest size would they say knit to a finished chest measurement of 26" you could forget the pattern and do the stitiches in the solid colour you have.

Dots and Dashes is DK.

Meadow of Wildflowers is DK tho smallest size is 30" chest.

As long as you knit a tension square to check the weight/needles, it might work.
