I'm trying to re-hem a set of curtains (long story) and cxannot make hed nor tail of the instructions in my sewing machine manual. WTF is blindstitching and how do I do it?

Please help (bear in mind this is the first time I've ever got my sewing machine out )

$$$$ knows. Buy some wonderweb and use an iron.

tempting. And if no-one can shed any light, that's what'll happen.

Blindstitching should be a pre-programmed stitch in your machine. It involves folding the fabric carefully before stitching so that there is virtually nothing visible on the right side. Follow the manual's instrucions with a spare bit of fabric first. Or do as I've done and use pins to keep the hem up - just a temporary measure (since Dec 03), you understand.

Thanks for this. I haven't got the special foot, so will get one and have a go .

I use wonderweb for everything embarrassed to say I don't own a needle and thread.

Are they pre-lined? are they already made and you're trying to shorten them?

by far the easiest way if that is to case, is to take off the hanging stuff at the top, cut off excess and hem them up there then put new stuff on

(I cannot for the moment remember the name of the 'stuff' do you know what I mean, the stuff you pull to make the gathers and put the curtain hooks through -ow -head hurts)
