We (meaning me and DS1 - who is nearly 3yo)recently used a combination of cereal box, kitchen towel tube and loo roll centres to make an elephant....

OR.... we have also used a HUGE quantity of them by painting them in random colours and patterns and tying them all together to make a huge snake

pen holders, animal bodies ie stick ears, arms and legs on... fill with rice and cover both ends to make shakers, telescope, talk through them...?? erm... will keep thinking...

With pipe cleaners to make joints you can make an awesome robot!

At the church toddler group I help with, we've been told we mustn't use empty toilet rolls, because of the germs. Honest, I'm not joking, we're only allowed to use kitchen rolls. Apparently that's the case in schools round here too.

At home, we made chicks by sticking on feathers and paper eyes and beak.

Also string puppets and snowmen at Christmas, covered on cotton wool.

Actually, I've just watched River Cottage and they used them as plant pots to start off peas. Then you can plant them out, tube and all without disturbing the roots. I will definitely try that next year.

cut through in a spiral....from top to bottom...and it will resemble a spring/ helta-skelta....attatch a ribbon and child can bounce it around- pretend its a snake...hang it as a mobile...

Oh I have just remembered we also painted a load of them black and put wings and eyes on them to make them into bats to hang from the ceiling at Halloween

I suppose you could also make pretty birds, bugs or butterflies in the same way?
