I have some gemstone chips that dont fit onto headpins or memory wire, so what can I do with them?

Theres loads of them too!

I'm not really sure what to do with them and its such a shame to waste them as they are so pretty.

Any ideas?

Could you sit them into some type of clay based material, such as fimo or the more grown up one, PMV or something begining with P then use that as the base for your jewellery, such as a small circle or oval for earrings or a large chunky shape for a necklace?

Oooh never even heard of that before

I was actually thinking of doing some brooches/corsages too!

Thanks

I don't know (helpful aren't I?) they seem to have it a lot on create and craft (shopping channel if you get it) it looks more professional than fimo and can (apparantly) look like gold, silver, bronze etc. I'll see if I can find it for you and try to do a link (there's a first time for everything!)

YOu could also wrap them with wire if they are big enough ?
I think PMC is quite techinical (& expensive!) - you need a blowtorch I believe !

OMG, I dont think I am up to using blow torches yet lol

They are only chips but I can see what your saying Whizzz. If they were bigger then I could have wrapped wire round them.

I'm just wondering whether they would go onto normal clay?
If I stuck the chips on to the shape of clay I was using and then when it was dry, mounted it on to a brooch back (that was my plan).
I think it could work.

Do you think the chips would stick?

not sure - possibly or you could use glue just to make sure. I know GS Hypo cement is recommended for gluing glass, it would no doubt work on stones (as would 'normal glue' I guess)

You could use Fimo. I have made pendants set with bits of sea glass, and brushed the Fimo with metallic powder - they looked really good. Note to self - must make some more!
