Need a name for a dress with a Purple synonym?

KatyMac · 21/05/2020 11:31

Made a dress and it's a sort of purple and white Paisley

So I need a name - really stuck with this one

Plum Paisley works but it is more Royal Purple than Plum & it's a bit naff

So I'm after purple related words or ideas

I'm not surprised you didn't get any replies, it's near impossible to think of a synonym for paisley! I was thinking amethyst would work for the purple so maybe something like amethyst dapple? It sounds lovely but probably doesn't work! Amethyst swirl? Although now I want an ice-cream 😹

Paisley Park? After His Royal Purpleness, Prince?

Paisley Orchid
Violet in Paisley
Indigo Paisley

On the Prince theme, I was thinking Purple Rain, as the swirls in a paisley pattern remind me of raindrops.

Periwinkle Paisley? Periwinkle varies in colour but there are some deeper purple shades in there

You could go even further and go with
Purple Reign 😃

I am leaning toward amethyst swirl

But the whole rain/reign thing is good too

Still decided, but with a better range of things to make a decision from

Thanks everyone

Plum Paisley is a colour of nail polish at the nail salon I go to.

BTW- I like the cut of the dress, but not into paisley or purple. Does it come in other patterns or styles if I wanted to get it myself?

I make them out of old duvet covers - I use a lot of pre-loved or vintage fabrics to make my clothes

Depending on how long you want the skirt you might need a kingsize but that was a double & I made 2 the other one had a different pattern but I didn't get any good pictures of it

I have a cream, blush pink & teal floral coming up soon I think

My supplies have really reduced since lockdown

@penguingorl & @AdaColeman - I finished 2 last week that need names - Obviously everyone else I would love your help - there were some marvellous suggestions but I can't name check everyone sorry (forgive me)

One is an OTT grey princess dress (full sleeves, full skirt not princess line - bit 80s?) Toile de Jouy & fleur de Lis with a bit of upholstery fabric

The other is Dusky Pink, with touches of black and gold - somehow it's more puritan! with big sleeves and an overskirt!

Any ideas?

The third I finished is forest green Sanderson fabric with huge gold and brown flowers - which has ended up being called 'Forest Garland'

Lovely idea @katyMac. I'm in the process of making a dress from an duvet cover I've had for ages, which had a pretty inset panel in it. I haven't made anything for 40 years so didn't want to spend any money on fabric until I'd got my confidence back. I never expected that I'd actually want to wear it, but so far it's looking quite good and if I finish it without cocking it up, I think I might! I'd love to see more of your creations...
