Help! Where would I find this fabric? (Pictures)

Hi crafty people I really need to pick your brains.

I really want to make something from this fabric. But all I have is this strip of ribbon, which is like a burnt orange/copper colour. It has gold flecks in it but wouldn't mind it with or without. Google isn't proving to be useful.

How would your source a fabric? Is there somewhere you go online?

Do you know of somewhere you can put a description of a fabric and it comes up?

Do any of you have a piece of this fabric????

Any advice appreciated.

Your picture is only showing on the App I think (I wish they'd fix that!)

This is the close up

It's grosgrain fabric, you may be able to find something similar on google, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to sew?

Is that an actual ribbon or a cut strip of fabric?

@SoupDragon thankyou for sorting the picture

It's a strange piece of fabric and I think it was round a product of some sort at Christmas. Maybe a box of chocolates? I thought it was pretty so saved it. But now I have found a use for it.

@loutypips grosgrain fabric, does mean bumpy? That gives me a starting point at least, thank you.

Wish there was a reverse image search type thing you could do?

It's ribbon. Grosgrain has a heavier weft than warp which gives it the ribbed or corded appearance. You'll find it far easier to find something like needlecord fabric than grosgrain which isn't ribbon for a similar look.

Black grosgrain fabric like that louty has linked to is the sort some ecclesiastical robes are made from.

Ah, so may not be available as a metre squared piece of fabric then. 😔

It the lovely copper/gold colour that I love. Its not brown, it's not orange, it's kind of in between.

Searching for Bronze might get the colour you want

Good idea!
I had been typing rose gold and got this one, which isn't too bad. But not quite right.

Is it "shot" fabric that you're after? It's woven out of two different shades, so looks different in different lights. I think it's most often taffeta or dupion silk though, so depends what you're wanting to make?

Dont really mind it being two different shades. Just a nice bronzer/copper colour.

Probably a bit weird but I fancy having a go at making a dog harness and collar. My puppy has chestnut/brown fur. So lots of colours clash.

But I randomly found that ribbon thing and she was playing with it, I put it round her neck and it looked so lovely, and really complemented her fur colour that I thought I would love to make a collar from that.

Then the more I looked I thought maybe even a harness too. They all look so sporty and clunky or are bright red or pink. There aren't many just made from nice fabric.
