Anybody else selling crafts online?

I have joined a website for handmade things called etsy but no joy yet although other people sell. Is ebay any good (it looks like people want to pay little for most things)? I have also a crafts blog and I'm trying to see if I can sell something, even if it won't make me rich if I do. Anybody managing to make a bit of money off crafts? Thanks

I think there are a few threads on here about this topic. I sell beaded jewellery but I only really look to cover my costs to buy more beads ! It is just a hobby for me, I'm not sure if I will try & actively set up a business - I think I need to build up my confidence levels .
Most of mine is sold by word of mouth - EBay I agree, seems to be people wanting rock bottom prices. I think a few others on MN are on Etsy & if you search the A&C threads, a MNer was setting up another craft selling type website

I'm on etsy too! You need to spend a lot of time in the forums to get sales tbh but if you check out the guide for newbies (in the forums section) that will give you tips on how to sell successfully. Most of my stuff is sold through word of mouth, although I am doing my first craft fair next month (nervous gulp!). I agree with whizzz about ebay, you struggle to get any kind of decent price for things. What are you selling? (sorry, just being nosy!)
My selling is more of a hobby too, I'm not brave enough to try the pushy pushy hard sell approach.

I've also done a couple of school fairs & although I have covered the stall cost both times, I find that the audience is predictably kids with pocket money - so my jewellery (even though relatively cheap by some standards) is out of the 'normal' price bracket of school fairs (eg 20p book stall!). Although by having flyers on the stall & putting my website addy (which I don't really promote either !) in with everything bought, I have had a few people contact me after the event for orders

I'm called london-cheapskate on etsy and I am keen on making/selling wall hangings, mainly textiles but I'm still starting out so it's a testing time (people seem to like my things but sometimes I feel they could have turned out better). I don't have much new stuff as the baby takes my time so it's mostly oldish stuff or when I was pregnant.
