Knitting for a spring baby

Hi guys! I'm a really keen knitter and I've been firing up my needles making lots of bits for my baby girl due in May. It's so exciting!
Then I had a sinking feeling- are items made from DK yarn going to be too warm for baby in May and June?

I'm also looking ahead and making bits for next autumn and winter but I'd love to make some cute bits for when she's little. Can a five- six month old still wear booties? Or will it look silly/get in the way?

Thank you!

Don't know that you'd needs lots of cardis for summer but will want some knitted bits. my little girl had a couple of short sleeve bolero type knitted ones which were lovely for an extra layer in summer. Also for winter she has worn loads a couple of knitted hoodies as they're really practical in car seat for keeping her warm as hood doesn't come over her eyes if she wiggles (which a hat can or can also be pulled off) and cosy which is good seeing as you can't wear coat or pram suit in car seat. Booties..... neither of mine have ever kept them on more than about 5 mins but every baby is different!
