The only thing I can think of it sewing on a piece of fabric across the back at the top to insert a pole into. I know they do this to hang quilts as competitions.

How big is it? I know for small quilts/wall hangings that you can get special hangers for them - a glorified wire hanger with fancy bull-dog type clips (sorry, poor description). Would this be awful?

I was at a quilt show at the weekend and they were displayed pole with clips but suspect won't look right in a home setting.

Alternatively you could just sew some loops on the top in the main colour of the hanging - eg bias tape and then slide a dowel through the loops. Fix the dowel to the wall by cup hooks?

Will search my quilting sites and if I find anything will post.

Ok, here's some insturctions on how to hang a quilt and also talks about wooden quilt hangers which may be the right kind of thing. Site is US but such hangers must be available here?
