Poster paint on fabric

That ready-mix paint that is used in primary schools etc. -- will it work if I use it on fabric? I know it will run if washed but it's for a kids fancy dress that will be worn for one day only and then chucked, so I'm not worried about that. I'm thinking more of will it stick to the fabric, will it crack etc.? TIA.
