What yarn for making dishcloths?

Hello, I need some help! I have some knitted dishcloths given to me by a dear, and now deceased, friend. They are excellent for scrubbing sticky little faces and hands, and i would like to make some more. I’m a very rusty knitter, and I think this is just my kind of project. I’ve found a pattern which suggests cotton (which mine are and I feel is a good idea for hot washing etc) but I am lost in the world of cotton blends, weights, etc. I’d like a nice bright colour and I fancy one of those ones which is all different colours really but I don’t know what I’m looking for. Any ideas would be very gratefully received!

I believe plain cotton, in a DK weight, is usually best. I think it's most commonly available in just white or natural undyed, buy you could dye it yourself. I buy mine in Boyes, & get free patterns on Ravelry.

WoolWarehouse has a whole section dedicated to dishcloth cotton. It's not something I've knitted with before but I think something like this might be what you are looking for. It is an Arab weight yarn so it will knit up quickly as it's a bit thicker. At £1.99 a ball it won't break the bank if it isn't quite right.
