What to do with underarm gaps in sleeveless tops.

Not sure if this is the right place but I need help with how to adapt sleeveless tops with deep arm ho;es. I have had surgery which has left my underarm area looking like a horror show so I need armholes to fit properly. I have some lovely tops which I wear with a cardigan and obviously normally that poses no problems. But in weather like we have now I would like to take the cardigan off. It looks really weird to be sitting sweating but wearing a cardigan.
Ive tried sewing up the armhole a bit but just end up with a lopsided effect that pulls the other side across.
Any other ideas I can try?

I would suggest finding a good dress maker. They can work wonders getting ill fitting things to work.
A small job would usually cost £10-15. Worth every penny yo have something you like that fits nicely

Which bit do you need to hide? The part you would shave or armpit to bra?

I think you could look for cap sleeve top - and also if you find a top in a slightly stretchy fabric the arm hole will be a bit smaller

Boden do a top called ‘rivoli’ in lots of colours. It a silk mix and it’s very flattering. I often see people on TV wearing it as it works well under jackets and on its own. Has a couple of gathers at the neck line and the merest hint of a sleeve

Can you sew? Jalie patterns have an ideal top for this issue. It's called Bobbies and has a hidden under layer that prevents gaping and covers underarms a bit more.

These are useful to wear under a revealing top

Sorry posted too soon. Could you adapt the idea of the pattern to add a hidden inside layer in the tops you already have?

Some good ideas - thank you.
@meala - thats exactly what I imagined .
I need the whole pit to bra area (plus front strap to back strap) to be covered -it aint pretty but I forget so gesticulate ,expose the unpleasant sight and only realise from the glances I get.
Actually the undertop might be something I can manage in nude cotton maybe ?

I have scars from eczema on my arm pits, and often have active eczema on them.

I generally trace off parents and add an extra 2 inches to the underarm. Being a bit of a bodger I tend it just eyeball the curve and continue the angle of the bodice, then fit and faff with it once I'm putting it together.

That jalie pattern looks ideal though.
