Sewing classes in London

I’ve decided to refresh my sewing skills whilst on maternity leave. Not touched a sewing machine since secondary school.
However, I cannot decide whether to book a class or just teach myself from a book.
Was just wondering how others found classes?
I’m looking forward to making bits n pieces 😊

I went to Sew Over It in Clapham which is very nice but not cheap - they also have an Islington branch.

I think John Lewis Oxford Street does classes which might be worth a look.

There are lots of on line courses, though I haven’t tried anything yet. Try Craftsy. A lot of the independent designers have quite extensive and detailed blog posts and ‘sewalongs’ which give you step by step instructions with photos. See Tilly and the Buttons and Closet Case Files. YouTube can be useful as well.

I went to Little Hands in Belsize Park and really enjoyed working on our own things in a group.

I did a course outside of London but I found having a tutor for the sessions (I did 4) was very useful. Plus it was quite sociable and a break from dd!!

There's a YouTube channel called Made to Sew which is really good.

Also, if you buy patterns you'll almost certainly be able to find a sewing blog/YouTuber who has reviewed the pattern/doing a sew along which helps of you get stuck.

Will have a look online at courses and Youtube but I think I may look for a local class, it would be nice to learn with others and I love a natter.

I looking to make some dresses for my little one in the summer plus some skirts and dresses for me.

I made cushions and various bags back in school, so I’m hoping it will all come back to me.
