Seeing machines

Okay I've given up with mine it's been playing up for over a year and I am not sure a service will help. Where do I start looking for a new one?

I like a nice friendly sewing machine shop that will let you try a few out and then when you do buy one, send you home with enough knowledge to do the basics.

DO you know which machine you'd like or how much you wanted to spend?
