I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have a nice wooden 12mm crochet hook they don't want any more?

how do i know if it's 12mm?
i have one that was in a load of sewing stuff i've accumulated from rellies and i have no use for it
at least, i think it's a crochet hook

no - sorry, but my gran taught me to crochet years ago and she's now passed - I'd love to remember how to do it - The stitch she showed me was abit like a fan - any ideas of websites etc that can teach you?

ps what about charity shops for the wooden hook? and theres some on ebay at the moment under crafts/crochet/hooks.

EllieKwithaHUGEbump - I was thinking it was the circumference but on reflection maybe it's the diameter of the cross-section. Neither seems quite right somehow.
justbeme - try the library for a good basic book, I have seen a few good ones.

I have seen some lovely wooden ones from India - not massively expensive but can't justify it atm

tick I am back from london and have just seen a load of crochet'd cup warmers (yes, cup warmers) for £20 each including bone china mug (mug looked suspciously like one I saw in sainsburys a few weeks ago for £2)

does that help justify it at all? There was a matching teacosy for god knows how much.

to be fair, it was rather nice

hmm it says knitted, that really looks like crochet to me

Looks like crocet to me too. Isn't it amazing that the sort of thing I used to laugh secretaly at my nan for using is selling for 80 pounds! And a cream teacosy? How practical is that!

Fillyjonk Sat 24-Feb-07 06:42:07

hmm

i think its a looking-at teacosy

Could I make small poncy things and sell them for lots?

Fillyjonk Sat 24-Feb-07 11:58:31

well it does seem so, yes

i think you have a suitable name for this also unlike me with my multibarreled too many vowels names.

oh go on and so it.

Only £1.75 + 45p P&P buy-it-now on ebay

BTW, my mum bought some knitting needles 7mm bamboo dpn from ebay last Saturday afternoon and they arrived Monday morning - must have got Sunday post. Fantastic service from this seller .

Fillyjonk Sat 24-Feb-07 13:45:32

its plastic though sue

TooTicky Sat 24-Feb-07 14:42:47

There was a plastic 11.5 in the shop in Melksham but I just couldn't. Well, I can't afford the wool yet anyway.
