Adjustable dress makers dummy

I'm not sure they are even called that now but has anyone any advice on where to get a good one. I want to buy one that I can adjust to my own measurements. I've looked on Amazon but a lot of the reviews say that the adjustment mechanisms are not very good. Does anyone have a good one? I've seen them retail for around £150 so far on line and that would be my top budget. It's a shame that there is a lack of habidashery shops in which to actually check one out. Still disappointed that John Lewis will be getting rid of these in the future.

Mine is from John Lewis and its been going strong for years - I would recommend even at the £100ish mark from there as I've had mine 16 years!

I think the demise of JLs haberdashery department is a false rumour!

Thanks for your reply ... I was beginning to think I was the only person who might want one of these. That's interesting that you recommend the JL one. I'll look at that and see what the price difference is. I found one on line from an actual dressmakers supplier and that is on sale at the moment at £99. I really hope it is a false rumour about JL. There are few enough places to get supplies as it is. Plenty on line but sometimes you can't beat actually feeling the fabric before you buy.

I have 3 , actually I work from home. I prefer Adjustoform because my JL dummy can not be adjusted for the nape to waist measurement.

I also think they are very over priced when you see what they are made of. I've only bought one brand new. My others have been ebay bargains. If you wait long enough an excellent condition dummy will be advertised. A lot of people buy mannequins at the start of a sewing hobby and give up. Also adverts that are local pick up only tend to go cheaper as by doing that the sellers are dramatically reducing the number of potential buyers. Its good to collect it yourself as you are then able to test all the dials.
