What length of circular needle do I need please?

I'd like to knit a blanket using a circular needle rather than two needles. The dimensions of the blanket are 105 x 125 cm (it's an Aran, cabled pattern).

So what length circular needle do I need? 100, 120 or 150 cm?

I mean, are you casting on stitches for the 105 cm side or the 125 side ?

I think the width is 105 cm/41 1/4"

If you are not knitting in a round.. But knitting in rows , it makes no difference whatsoever.. So whatever you've got :)

I'd be ordering them.

120 then. Slightly longer than you need but not massive.

I'd go for the longest. If you use it in future to knit anything in the round, its much easier with a long cable.

It does matter how long the circular needle is because you need to be able to get all the stitches on it! However, you don't need it to be the full width of the piece because the stitches do bunch up a lot. If it's too long, it can be very annoying! On the other hand, if it's long enough to open out the whole piece as you work it, it's quite nice because then you can admire your work from time to time.

I'd go for 100cm, personally - not so much length that it's going to do your head in but enough to be able to stretch it nearly out fully to admire it as you go along Smile

Do you knit a lot ? Can you contemplate forking out for a set of interchangeable needles ? It's a nice feeling to have all possible sizes and cable-lengths. Otherwise I'd go for 120cm.

You don't need a whole set to start with, though. Just buy the interchangeable needles and cable in the size you want and build on the set if you keep on knitting. Definitely a good idea as it's so much more flexible! I can recommend Hiya Hiya needles - absolutely love them.

I meant it doesn't matter from the sizes the op suggested.. But go for the 100cm.. The others get very unwieldy.
