Wedding dress support?!

I have three evenings, and if I'm lucky a couple of snatched lunch hours, to finish adjusting and embellishing my DSis's wedding dress. I am losing my mind one seed pearl at a time! Keep me company with your tales of successful wedding clothes/last-minute deadlines? Please???

(This is a rescue of a bespoke dress, that DSis wasn't confident in, so the frantic short timescale is not really of my making...)

I read this yesterday but was feeling shy... I can sew but not wedding dress level, I think you may shame me into finishing a couple skirts I've started.

Do we get to see this dress?

Don't be shy waves madly!!

I am the queen of half-finished projects, but no dodging the deadline on this one. With luck it will be beautiful and I'll ask if I can show a picture. I'm mainly working on a lace overlay that covers the whole dress and forms the train. I'm adding applique lace pieces and billions of pearls, partly for beautifying purposes, and partly to get the weight balance right at the front (because the weight of the train at the back is very slightly pulling up the front hem of the lace at the moment). By midnight last night I was about a mm away from just duct taping lead weights into the front Grin

Oooh the lace and beading sounds lovely.
So your weighing down the dress with lace and beads? Like litteraly using the added weight to pull the front down...

LOL I'm sure you can get white/ivory duck tape...Wink

How's it going?

I had a night off from it, for the sake of my eyesight! Nearly there though I think - it's wearable now, but I'm glad I've still got tomorrow to add more pearls in what will hopefully look like a "delicate scattering" rather than odd clumps! Will be rather glad when it's out of the house and I can just enjoy the wedding...

How did it end up?

All over now! It's a truckload of work for one day, but sis was happy so job done. Even if I had the skills (which I don't, I'm strictly amateur) I would never, ever do bridal sewing as a job Grin

Now, back to my own half-finished projects
