Dying trousers

We're off to a wedding in a few weeks and I haven't been able to find DP some trousers. He's an awkward shape and is a farmer so doesn't have the time to be traipsing round shops trying many pairs on. I also wanted a dark pink pair to match the stitch in his jacket, and there aren't any around.

As time is now running out and funds are a little low, I was thinking of dying a pair of his trousers that fit really well. They're light pink at the moment but a bit faded in places, so I thought of using Dylon Burlesque Red on them. Does anyone have any thoughts on how the colour will dye over light pink?

I used Dylon to dye the sofa covers and it worked really well, but I'm not sure if that's giving me a false sense of hope. DP loves his pink trousers so will be very upset if I ruin them. I have promised we'll save up for a new pair for next summer because he does look lovely in them, it's just a shame that they're faded so not suitable for a wedding as they are.

They're cotton by the way. I'm confident the dye will take, just worried about the end colour IYSWIM. Also not sure if Burlesque Red is pink enough, but the Flamingo Pink is a bit much!

Just one caveat: you may find that although the fabric of the trousers is cotton the stitching could be synthetic, e.g. polyester, and may take the dye less well, resulting in staying the same colour or similar as it is now.

I did think about that, but I thought light pink stitching on dark pink trousers would look okay?
