Yarndale or Woolfest?

If you had to chose between these which would you recommend and why?

Never been to either and suspect my bank account would not appreciate me attending both so I feel that going to only one would be for the best. However, as having nothing to base my choice I need the wise mnners to help advise me to aid the decision of which to attend.

TIA

I've not been to Woolfest so it's not fair of me to suggest one over the other but I can say that Yarndale is absolutely amazing!! I went a couple of years ago and had a brilliant time. Managed to miss it last time but I'm definitely going back this year.

Yarndale is in Skipton in September.

I've done both and I'd say Woolfest, no competition.

We always combine it with a bit of a day out in the Lakes.

Yarndale is good but it's organised by crocheters at the end of the day, and I'm a knitter. Also, Yarndale is not as good for raw fleece (I'm also a spinner) and it clashes with the traditional, and rather wonderful Masham Sheep Fair so I prefer to do Woolfest and Masham.

Wonderwool Wales is my favourite. Maybe not helpful to just suggest another.

I haven't been to Woolfest so can't make a direct comparison.

I am both knitter and crocheter and found more than enough of interest at Yarndale. I would agree about raw fleece though - but spinning is not my thing so that doesn't bother me.

Yarndale is in the cattle market in Skipton - each stall is in its own pen and I think the atmosphere is fabulous. Take a picnic though - the catering provision wasn't fabulous and the queues took ages - but I didn't nake it in 2015 so it mght have improved.

Grin lostin

Oooo all the more suggestions are welcome.

Sorry to take so long to reappear, this thread disappeared itself and I have only rediscovered it with the introduction of the helpful 'I started' list.

Much to think about. Considering Fibre East also but it is more of a trek. Will definitely look into the other suggestions here. Thanks Flowers

Woolfest is in Penrith auction so pretty similar in that respect to Yarndale. There is also the Wool Show at the start of August near to York also in an auction barn!

So I would look at the list of exhibitors / workshops and decide that way?
