I'm having an achieving day, so far I have:

  1. Tidied my sewing area,
  2. Shortened the sleeves of a new top (another one to do)
  3. Half-made a top for DD (ran out of cotton)
  4. Tried to convert a maxi-dress into a trouser-suit....it's not happening so now it's going to be a halter neck top
  5. removed an alteration on a dress as DD has grown

I'm now off out for lunch & when I get back I want to:
  6. Finish that top
  7. Shortened the sleeves of another new top
  8. Shortened the dress into the halterneck top

& if I write it down it might actually happen......maybe?

Knitted another three stripes on my Stephen West Boneyard shawl. Still a long way to go. Thinking about blocking my Hitchhikers scarf but really should be packing for our holiday tomorrow. just one more row, just one more stripe

Still to go

  1. Finish that top
  2. Shortened the sleeves of another new top
    3) Shortened the dress into the halterneck top

I don't really knit as the wool irritates my hands - but I know how Wink

Glanced several times at the fabric on the dining table that is waiting to be cut into a dress for DD. I just haven't got the energy to doing any cutting or sewing today. By 10pm I will be pissed off that I haven't done it. I wish I had my own sewing space (or even better, one if those fancy craft sheds) as I hate having to keep setting up and packing away my machine and sewing paraphernalia.

Today I've knitted a few rows of a cardigan I will need this winter. Spent all weekend charting it (I tend to make up my own knitting patterns - get bored following someone else's). In the next few days I want to cut out a Colette pattern duffel coat (Albion). But I need to re-use it for my sons as well so am going to have to trace my size before I cut it out, to keep the original intact. And am not looking forward to that. Love sewing but don't enjoy the cutting out of pattern and fabric stage!

I've nearly finished a pair of pyjama bottoms for my ma - I had a mass of trouble trying to turn my drawstring right side out! I just need some narrower elastic than the 1" I was going to use as the channel is a bit small.

I've got some pyjama shorts to cut out for my sister and I need to trace the pattern and cut the fabric for the Colette Aster blouse sewalong.

I did collect some pebbles yesterday to use as pattern weights so I'm looking forward to seeing how those work.

Another job finished
1) Finish that top
2) Shortened the sleeves of another new top
3) Shortened the dress into the halterneck top

I fancy trying PJ's but I don't have the right material & I've promised myself to use at least 3/4 of what i have before I buy any more Blush as my shelves are overflowing

DD made herself a 'Chanel' type jacket out of fleece about 7 years ago & it never really fitted as it was too big - she found it recently & it will be off to college with her!!

Mum's pyjamas finished, sister's pyjama shorts finished and two skirt waistbands unpicked and redone.

Keeping up with the sewalong too.

And I'm making a little reversible bag tomorrow - cherries and skulls!

I bought some lovely fabrics this week, and now plan to make a party skirt for the daughter and a skirt for me, and if the blouse toile comes out well I'll be making many versions!

Friday I traced a duffel coat pattern (Colette's 'Albion') for one size and cut it out then cut it out for another size as I want to make it for my sons and for myself. Will get on with toile in next few days for myself, first.

Saturday I cast on a second cardigan because the first is quite convoluted and so I wanted to alternate with some brainless knitting and use up some old stash (Elizabeth Zimmermann's Tomten jacket in adult size).

Last week I also did four caravan curtains, recycled from old house curtains and I just have two more of those to make then my husband's Man Cave caravan looks nice from the outside, at least.

I've been given lots of scraps - mostly furnishing fabrics with a little bit of dress-making. So now I'm thinking about what to do with those! Scrappy patchwork cushions perhaps...

It's been sewing-crazy in the last few days!

I made the little bag, that turned out quite nicely.

Then I made a sparkly party skirt for my daughter - it's a half circle so is nice and twirly!

At the same time I made a skirt for me with some vintage 50s fabric.

I've made a lot of progress with the Colette Aster sewalong and am really glad I cut a muslin - I'll definitely need to make an FBA on it as the button placket doesn't quite meet.

I've also redone two waistbands which were too big, redone some binding on the hem of a top and re-cut the neck of a top I made a couple of months ago - it was a round neck but too high and wouldn't lie flat so I've cut it to a v-neck and it fits much better.

Now what shall I make?!

Ooh I'd make a dress! But then I like dresses.

Talking of Colette toiles, I spent yesterday doing a toile for the duffle coat, Albion. I need to do some adjustments, as well! In at the waist, out at the hips, and about 4" off the sleeves! So glad I did a toile though as I made a couple of stupid errors I now won't make on the final version.

Have washed and pre-shrunk the lining. Now to transfer my adjustments to the paper pattern and wait for the main fabric to arrive from eBay.

In other craft news, I spent today finally, finally, rationalising my yarn stash. I threw out a bin bag's worth of crap; got 2 plastic carriers full for the charity shop and reorganised numerous drawers and baskets so now all the wools of a similar weight are together. In the process found about three things I thought I lost! Bear in mind I'm a handspinner so have a huge stash!

I think a dress might be next Joff, once I've finished my Aster...

flighty let us know how the Aster goes... I've been looking at that and wondering if I could make it.

Main fabric for duffel coat finally came today and it is nicer even than it looked in the eBay photo. Have washed it to pre-shrink and so will cut out to the altered pattern when it's dry...
