Do you have the JL110? If so, John Lewis stock the Janome even feed foot [walking foot] for your machine. If your local JL don't have it in stock this is what you should look for www.amazon.co.uk/Janome-Even-Feed-Oscillating-Machine/dp/B0033A38BM?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

ah - that's different again . I was looking at www.j-shop.co.uk/product/11/14inchseamfoot and

www.johnlewis.com/janome-sewing-machine-quarter-inch-seam-foot/p301546 or

www.johnlewis.com/janome-patchwork-seam-foot/p301467

the thing is I don't know what sort of machine it is oscillating hook or rotary is a foreign language !

I have a janome machine and that foot would fit it. At £5 I'd be tempted to give it a go....

Yes, you can get a quarter inch foot but first of all measure the distance from your needle to the side of your foot - you may find that is already quarter of an inch.

Depending on how your dad wants to finish the quilt you may need a walking foot but first check that you can drop the feed dogs under your foot, the walking foot is there to push the fabric through.

I have a janome and have just bought a 1/4 inch foot as part of a multi pack on Amazon, also bought a walking foot for £5!

I quilt with my normal foot actually. Which layers is she doing?

Thanks all for your comments -I got one in the end from local quoting shop/ managed to break the needle at first attempt to put it on as setting on machine was wrong but away now . I bought her 2 charm packs and some plains , she has seen them into squares of 9 and going to chop them into quarters - it's a pattern she saw on you tube I think called 'disappearing nine' or something like that . It's really pretty so far . I'm tempted to have a go at one myself / seduced by the fabric . I have spent all evening on line browsing - I can't see myself holding out but I have a half finished project on the go already ....must get on with it !
