Can't go wrong with Debbie Bliss imo for knitting, particularly for kids.

Are you looking for pattern books or instruction books?

I know nothing about pattern books. But I can recommend instruction books for knitting. How much do you know about knitting/crochet? How advanced do you want the books?

I have pretty basic skills! I like funky projects but wouldn't want anything that takes too long to do...no interest in making adult clothes that need to fit as this is probably beyond me!

Scarfs, hats, bags, accessories, afgans etc more my scene!

I don't need instructions for knitting but I am teaching myself crochet and struggling a bit with it.

Hmmm, I like the Stitch'n'Bitch books, but never really got into the patterns.

www.knitty.com has lots of good free patterns.

And there are special books out there for home decor stuff ...

Oh, the Stitch'n'Bitch people did a "happy hooker" book for crochet. I expect it's ok. Or I have a general needlework book that covers knitting, quilting, embroidery, etc etc.

I have Happy Hooker...not as good as the knitting one. Has anyone got any of the Erika Knight crochet books?

Also fancy crochet scarves by Candi Jensen & Knitted flowers by Nicky Epstein...does anyone know these books?

I've just bought the Erika crochet book (the one with the hexagonal blanket on the front, A4 size) and I like it a lot, though the scarf pattern I've started seems to have grossly underestimated the number of balls of biggy print i will need

The Erika Knight one is cheap from the Book People at the moment, about a fiver I think. For knitting how about this ? She's a lovely lovely woman if that helps
