I really need some guidance on how to make a Pom Pom. I tried to make one earlier this morning but when I took the discs out the wool could all just fall out iyswim. I really dont know what I'm doing wrong and I am wondering if anyone can help me please. I was doing it while watching a video how to on YouTube and it still went wrong!

Pom pom makers are the answer.

The clover pom pom makers are amazingly easy and quick to use, you won't look back.

But i it wasn't the wrapping round that was the problem it was the removing of the discs. Are Pom Pom makers different?

*Cut two doughnut shaped rings of the same size.

*Place them together and wind the wool round and round, taking it through the centre each time.

*Once enough wool is wound on (usually when it's difficult to get anymore wool through the centre), carefully cut the wool around perimeter of the ring, leaving wool in the centre ring..

*Gently prise cardboard rings apart just 3-4 mm, ensuring the wool remains inside the centre hole.

* Take a separate and generous length of wool, slot it in between the two cardboard rings and fasten it tightly around the wool in the centre of the rings.

*The pompom wool is now secure. Pull or cut off the cardboard rings, fluff up the pompom and trim if needed.

*The length of wool used for tying up the pompom can be used to attach it wherever required.

You must not have tied it tight enough!

But it was tied, but it could fall out the sides iyswim

I can only say the same as reality - that it needs to be tied really tightly before the rings are removed - as if you did exactly what I've written, I can't think of anything else that could be causing it!

You tie it as tight as it can be. Winding it around several times and then tie . Then nothing comes out. Are you using normal wool?

I saw a new method in crochet mag to make mini poms, you use a fork and do like a figure of eight, then where they cross you tie, then cut the edges. Don't know if it works, but looks good.
