Crochet. Block?

I'm a knitter but just learned to crochet.
I've croched a load of granny squares using Drops Lima. They are quite tidy and square but some are a tiny bit bigger/smaller due to tension.
I just want to know, do you block your squares before joining them for a blanket?
I would usually for knitting but these have a better shape.
:)

I never have. That's not to say blocking isn't he righ way to do it though.

if you are joining your squares by sewing or crocheting through each stitch or chain space - it will make very little difference if you block before or after you join them.

personally i would do it after - then just use the steam setting on your iron to blast the blanket with steam in sections and just ease it into shape.

The steam method seems easier, thanks.

I'll be crocheting together as I hate sewing. Never done it before.

I made a granny blanket and lovingly blocked every square. Utter waste of time because the weight of the blanket pulled everything into shape anyway. So I wouldn't do it again Smile

I have finished the blanket.

It didn't need blocking but I steamed it gently and it looks really good.

I'm so pleased it turned out well for my first attempt.
