8 people came. It was good although no one did much scrapping as we were talking scrap and techniques and i was demo-ing for most of the night. The next one is scheduled for the week after the demo i'm doing. I would soooo love to have the time to set up a shop- I have so many ideas but just don't have the time

Glad it went well. 8 newbies to reel in and turn into addicts.

Set up a shop and you would have even less time.
70+ hours a week isnt fun...its bloomin hard work and leaves me very little time to scrap

glad it went well PF!!

how about asking the shop owner if you can do some workshops and stuff there?

Report
Pixiefish · 29/06/2006 00:25

I'm doing a demo for her the Tuesday i get back from Yorkie's. The problem with doing workshops is that I haven't got the equipment. If I wanted to do embossing I'd need a heatgun between 2 people at least. Think I'll stick to doing demo's for the time being. Am flat out at the moment making stuff to take with me to show so that they can see different things and not just 12 x 12

could the lady provide bits?

demos are brill idea!! ooo and make and takes, altho you'll still have the prob of having materials and tools etc.

champs · 29/06/2006 00:53

oh yeah, i meant to say before, if you want to open a shop but not enuff time, resources etc and lady has a shop but not loving it etc, how about asking if you could help run it? would that still be too much time for you?

I really have no time champs. We run a computer business and have an industrial unit and a high street shop. DD has bad excema and needs a lot of care and hospital appointments etc. I gave up working as a teacher and do the odd day supply when I can.

Scrapping is a hobby and I know that it'd stop being a hobby if I was doing it for work.

It's a romantic notion that I have of running a craft shop, to do it properly you have to put the hours in which is what I don't have. It'll have to stay a dream lol

very true, dreams are sometimes meant to stay that way

ds1 has horrible exema, it's only just getting better it was a nightmare we had to bandage him up as it bled and infected. it was so horrid seeing him like that and he'd often wake up screaming in pain, excema red and bleeding, i had to bathe it just so he could get some coolness.
i found the avene spray excellent.

i really hope your dd'sexcema starts to get better real soon.

Sorry to hear about your little one as well champs. My ds excema has got worse in the last couple of weeks. It's not bleeding yet though as he doesn't scratch it. I am using Aveeno cream with the porridge oats, is that the one you are using.

Pixiefish · 29/06/2006 22:15

thanks champs. As it blinkin happens she's fairly bad tonight after a couple of weeks of being better- typical.

We're also at the wrapping stage although at the moment its dry wrapping and not wet wrapping.

I know what you mean about the blood though- happens all the time here and is so very stressful for us both

yeah i use that one ucm, and the bath oil too. do you get it perscriptiom? it can get costly if you dont.

the avene spray is this one it's fab great for my sensitive skin, sun burn, once, i was in a shop amd a little girl was telling her mum that she got stung by some nettles so i gave her mum the spray to spray on it and it stopped it stinging immediately!! I always keep a can at home

PF - it's terrible isn't it? makes me feel so helpless. he's not on a dairy ban anymore which makes him feel better about it all.

the trick is to keep the skin moist at all times, it's hard tho when the skin is all broken.

No all they gave him up the surgery was aqueous cream & diprobase (already had both). you are right it's very expensive to buy. I must try that muslin pouch under tap with porridge oats in one day and see what happens.

champs · 01/07/2006 01:20

I put the oats straight into the bath. It helps alot, i know it gets a bitt messy but i like to rub it into his skinn too.

I find the aqueas cream isn't too good for us. ds hates it, ask your gp if he'll perscribe aveeno for you. I used to just buy it but had a try.

The aqueous cream makes dd worse as there's something in it that aggravates her.

I like aveeno and doublebase and find that they work best for us atm

never thought about putting the oats in the bath. Will try that today. What about redness, got any tips for that as yesterday he had patches of red behind his knees and little patches all up his legs.

I am sure Aqueous cream doesn't do a lot for him either. I am going to stop using it. I had some excema (very mild) on my eyelids through stress recently and when I put that on it, it stung like hell.

Only thing I cuold use was that aveeno cream, the one in a tube.

Report
champs · 02/07/2006 02:23

funny you should both say that, ds says it stings too!!

i had excema as a child and it flares up very occasionally, the last time i had it was a few months back, i had an alergic reaction to a plaster!! it was terrible, i also itched while sleeping and it bled/infected. i got some tea trea and whitch hazel cream which cleared it up brilliantly. i also bathed it in whiych hazel.

you can try the cream on the red patches,UCM. Try a small area first i found it in savers and tescos. its a good thing to have in first aid as i used it on bites, nettle rash and other stuff
