Very basic baby beanie hat type thing for elderly lady to knit

Could anyone find me a free pattern to download for my 92 year old mum to knit? She wants to make a "little hat" for great granddaughter being born by cs on Monday. It needs to be VERY easy, no cable patterns or such and knitted on two needles, not in the round which I think maybe means on a circular needle? You can tell I'm not a knitter can't you!

I've googled for a few but they all seem either with American instructions - mum can only do basic plain & purl or something she calls moss stitch? - or way too complicated. Can you come up with anything please?

Hi. If you go to Ravelry, and look up the newborn garter stitch hat by Brigitte Pieke, that is a very very easy project. As long as your mum knows how to decrease she won't have a problem, i made one a few weeks ago, it was the first time I made a hat and was really simple, and cute!

She has instructions for knitting flat / two needles. It just needs sewing up once its done.

Thank you goodjambadjar (strange name - have you actually been making jam or something?) for that info, I'll go take a look right now :)

I hope that pattern is what you need!

The name is more to do with how I look and am, so I'm a nice person inside (jam) but the packaging isn't attractive (jar)

I answered your thread on ravelry as well. I'd say choose something in a worsted/aran weight yarn as the thinner the yarn the slower the knitting will go.

SouthdevonDelight did your mum like the pattern?

Sorry, not ignoring people - just busy today. Now have three patterns printed out for mum and three colours of wool (cream, white and a lovely delicate pink fleck). Will be taking them to mum tomorrow - new great granddaughter will be born on Monday - she will get cracking and should have a little hat for posting soon after. Job done :)

Very exciting stuff, new baby in the family! Good luck to your mum with the project, and Thanks for you for making such an effort to help your mum make a lovely gift.
