Petrol based paint ideas??

We live in a very small town in Africa - my husband works for an NGO - and paints for children are not available here. I did buy loads of finger paints and kids paints but that luggage went missing on our flight here. In the market, I have found petrol based house paints. Is there anything I can do with these to dilute these down and to make them paint-able with? We've made paints out of mixing muds and sands with water, but I think my toddler is getting bored of brown! Thank you!

They will stink, I wouldn't let them near a toddler.
What about white paper glue with food colouring added to it?

Could you use plant/vegetable colours? Beetroot, turmeric, that kind of thing?

Bit late but I have instructions for edible finger paint on one of my Pinterest boards, hang on...

This one used plain yoghurt and Kool Aid (which may not be available)
This is actually sidewalk-chalk paint. It also uses Kool Aid but I imagine food colourings would work too.
This uses milk and food colouring to make artwork. Not finger paint though.
This is edible finger paint using basic kitchen ingredients

:)

As you mention sand, this is home made "Moon Sand"
