Single thread bracelets - help?

Does anyone know what I mean? I've googled but can't find what I mean.

I think they're made with emrnoidery thread - sometimes they are knotted as a fastening or sometimes with a proper clasp on?

I've seen them with a single charm on before and love them and am also looking for a new hobby and have lots of birthdays coming up.

Anyone know how to make them? What id need? What on earth I'm talking about?
