I haven't been organised enough recently to sell loads. Most go to friends, although I have done 2 craft fayres in the past. One a disaster (their fault not mine!) and one a great success. I have sold a couple of things via MN too.

I hope to get some sort of website sorted soon Smile

I have my own website but tbh I don't really promote it very well. I sell cards through dh's shop and also to people that i know. One thing I miss about teaching is the staff room- and all the contacts there who need cards for various occasions. As for how many I sell, it all depends on the season and what event is coming up. Sold loads of mothers day cards through dh's computer shop- but generally its blokes that go in there. Can't see me selling many father's day cards through there tbh

I sold loads of cards through work, but since I am not at work at the moment, thats slowed up a bit.

I fully intend to get my website up & running and a bit more in peoples faces when I have the energy. I have someone else involved now, which is always good as you can bolster each others confidence.

Craft fayres are great, as are table top sales. But I have been doing such a lot for friends & family recently that I haven't got hardly any stock.

Oh and a word of warning, Christmas is only 7 months away and I didn't have enough stock last time...........

thanks, very helpful. I thought I would start my Christmas stock in August! Is that a good plan? This will be the first Christmas I have attempted to sell cards. Do people tend to buy packs of 5 or 10 or do they tend to buy one off 'special' Xmas cards for 'mum' or 'grandma' etc?

I found that people just bought one or two - but that is because most of mine were more elaborate. I think if you sold in packs, you would have to do more basic cards & charge less.
I think they key is making a nice card but not charging too much. I think most want an 'individual card' but do not want to spend loads

I made 6 designs and stuck labels on the back with a number on so when anyone order a card they just had to tell me the number.

The six designs mainly 3d designs were for personalising like merry christmas Aunty Lucy. I charged £3.50 to £4.00 each (they were in a box)

I made some very simply ones and sold them in fives fo £5.00, if, on the insert they wanted a name I would do that.

I made over 150 cards last christmas I started in July got some funny looks but explained they are handmade and take ages to make.
I was still maying last minute card order Thursady before christmas.

YOU CAN NEVER START TOO EARLY
