Pinking shears - can I get them sharpened?

I have inherited my mum's old pinking shears. They're quite blunt (I suspect I may have use them on paper as a child...) so I thought I'd need some new ones and had a look on eBay but I was suprised at how many "vintage" pairs are being sold. I can only assume they're as blunt as mine and so I wondered if you can get them sharpened anywhere? Or should i just get a new pair?

If you look in the yellow pages you may find a sharpening company, they advertise for tools but do do small jobs too. I was surprised that there was a company on my door step on a small industrial estate.

But dont expect it done for a couple of pounds - may be £10 or more.

Havent tried myself (disclaimer alert!) but would cutting through sandpaper help? Seem to remember it's good for normal scissors.

I second cutting through sandpaper or foil.

Thanks. I read somewhere else about foil but didn't believe it. I'll give it a go and report back!
