Change the buttons for prettier ones.

Stitch a patterned ribbon around the edge of the cuffs and/ or along the bottom.

Applique motifs onto it.

little button badges are very trendy, buy some girly loking badges and put them on in a cluster on one side. Khaki is great on girls coat, my dd has a kahki parker type coat looks boyish and great. or buys some felt and make felt flowers to pin on, felt is cheap and easy to cut in to say pettal shapes or simple designs like birds or owls and layer up

felt art

Depending on the style, you could do something like this to the collar and pockets.

Fabric flower corsages are 'in' at the moment. If you google it, there are many sites that show you how to make your own.

Or you could buy one.

Latte, that little cherry broach on your blog would look cute too.
