Anyone Willing & Able to Take on the Challenge of Organising a SEWN/EMBROIDERED MN Bereavement Blanket ??

Inspired by Purplepidgins Knitters/Crocheters call to arms to make a blanket in the thread linked below.

I suggested maybe also using Fleece squares, but turns out this isn't possible mixed with the knit/crochet squares

but purplepidjin suggested a whole separate Fleece Memory Blanket, from us sewers & quilters might be a lovely idea :)

I would suggest this can be a combination of plain squares & some embellished with applique & embroidery, be that machine, or whatever your skill or preference - these need to be laid out to form the design & then sewn together & backed again with fleece

Sadly for various reasons, including health related & hospital looming I cannot offer to organise & sew this whole project, but I can offer squares & possibly help with the actual design - though that may be best in a quilters hands?? as this is more of a quilting project & thats not something I've ever really taken an interest in - I do applique & embroider though & have a healthy fleece stash, so can add squares to the pot STS

Thread below :)

Great start :) - we need someone who can sew them all together & back it then - by machine of course

if one big one is too much & no-one volunteers, another plan might be to split it into Kiddie sized Mummy Memory Blankets for the 3 poor mites who've just lost there Mum - I could probably take on putting one of those together myself - perhaps it would be nice to have designs on some of the squares that meant something to magic8

lot half of that post Confused - so we'd need 2 more assemblers :)

see what offers come in - sizes etc for the adult ones are already worked out by the knitters, so thats easy, no thought needed

but if we end up doing 3 xKids ones then I can probably work out whats needed square wise, unless a quilter wants to take that on??

I can cut and send some squares

How big? Any restrictions on decoration?

I think it would be nice to get some decoration ideas from the family - if thats possible?? - it would be a lovely thought that in years to come the DCs would still find the blanket/s a comfort & think of it as having a bit of heir Mum in it?? - but otherwise geared to the DCs sex in colour, with symbols such as hearts for love, white feathers, Dragonflies (meaning visitor from heaven) or any spiritual symbols relevant to the family etc etc

The more I think on it, I do think it should be 1 DCs blanket each - what do others think on that??

lets see who favours Kidds blankets - if everyone is happy with that, & no-one else offers I can work it out

is there a time scale these things are generally made in?? - thats the bit that worries me?
