do you have any recommendations for stitchy shops/ activity places in the Torbay region? On holiday and getting withdrawal symptoms?!?! Sewing or knitting I don't care.....

Funny you should ask that - I have a patchwork magazine open on my desk with an ad for a Torbay patchwork shop right there. I came across it and emailed my mum as she is going there in a few weeks.

Anyway, the shop is Sewing the Seeds and it is in Torquay Railway Station Solsbro Road. Go out of Torquay heading in the direction of Paignton on the coast road and I assume the station is sign posted.

Or I know of a nice shop in Exeter if you can venture further afield. Can't remember the name but it is also at Exeter central station, funnily enough.

Or for the woolly experience, Bovey Tracey has a lovely wool shop - Spin a Yarn plus the Devon Guild of Craftspeople Crafts centre with lots of displays. That can't be too far, just head out of Torquay, go through Newton Abbott and Bovey Tracey is a few miles north of that on the edge of the moors. (Apologies if you know all this).

Cockington used to have a fabric seller in the big house somewhere. Don't know if they still do. Nice place to visit though, if only to watch the glass blowers.

Enjoy your break. I am very Envy especially as the sun has come out today!

You star!! I'm planning a trip to spin a yarn on the way home. There's a lovely quilt shop there too. I found a nice shop in totnes yrsterday. DS1 and I indulged in buttons and Texere yarn mixture bags. Fab. We haven't made it to Torquay yet but now I know where to head! Thankyou!

I went to Spin a Yarn this morning and am now the proud owner of some beeeoooootiful silk yarn - I saw it a year ago and have wanted it since - very indulgent but it's my holiday treat. Looking forward to knitting it up.

EnvyGrin

Sounds lovely. You are reminding me to get on and book my hols. We were planning to go to South Devon but we might edge closer to Torquay now, especially as my mum will be in the area visiting her cousin and I can indulge in some girly craft stuff with them.

Thanks also for solving my confusion about Bovey Tracey - I could have sworn there were two wool shops but I can only find one on-line. That might because the second one was actually the quilting shop you mentioned!! I don't think I got to go in it last time I went there - the perils of living with 3 males - they only have a limited attention span for craft shops.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday.Smile

Quilt shop is called Serendipity. It's great. Terrible parking in the town though. I'd get said males ti drop you off - that's what I did!!!!!

Moomin if you are still about, is the shop in Totnes called Creative Crafts and Needlework by any chance? I have just seen a needlecraft shop for sale on a business for sale website, based in South Devon and it looks like the kind of shop that would in Totnes (it looks like it is on a hill)!

Oh to have a spare £30k and the ability to move.

Hope you enjoyed the rest of your holidays.Smile
