My partner and I had the news that the NT 3.5. Called into a room and the general attitude was there was likely to be something wrong with our baby however, it being normal for our baby was also common . Advised on the various tests and chose to pay for the blood test that test the baby’s DNA in my blood. Really struggling to hold back the tears . Has anyone had a similar experience and everything turned out ok

@Kateb8020 hope youre ok! We had an nt of 4mm at our scan. We went with getting the harmony testing done which all came back as clear. We then had 2 further scans, 16 and 20 weeks, with a consultant to check on baby. Everthing has been as should be and told nt had resolved aroynd 16 week mark too. We are 23 weeks tomorrow and have been told to put any concerns out our head. I know not a definite answer as baby not here yet but hopefully to give some reassurance.

@Kateb8020 definitely understand. Its all so emotionally draining! Try not to panic... Easier said that done i know! Have they mentioned the fetal medicine midwife or seeing a consultant? It was the consultant that looked at out scans and put us at so much ease ❤️

No consultant lead at the moment . Not sure if that will be the case in the next scan , Thank you . The midwife did say she agrees there is a nasal bone though so that was a bit more reassuring. Wanted to put The scan pic on here for opinions but doesn’t give me an option.

Really surprised I know 3.5 is the top end of normal levels, but I'm surprised they said something could be wrong if everything else looked ok? Have u had your bloods back yet? I've seen other posts on hear with bigger readings that 3.5 and turned out totally fine, every baby is different and grow differently so try your best to stay calm and not panic. If they haven't found any other soft markers I really wouldn't worry to much at this point. Smile have u thought about harmony test? Where they extract blood from mum and take baby's cell free dna to examine? It's extremely accurate in-fact I've never heard of it giving a false negative. Will put your mind at rest and there's no harm to baby xx

That’s what I had done yesterday. Literally got called into a room after the scan with a midwife on the unit and Her colleague and told that Baby could have Down’s or heart defect or infection . Told of testing , said we’d pay for this test . Didn’t really say anything positive to reassure . Said after results we will have a chat about options . Said they can’t give personal opinion or false hope and I’m struggling as you can’t be positive and think it’ll all be fine and you don’t want to think about it that it may not be and the reality of our future , our baby’s future ,it makes me cry instantly, it’s the first thing I think of when I wake up .

Ahh this is such a rubbish situation to be in. I hope you get some news soon. Have you had your risk rating back yet? They should be able to tell you more when they've screened your blood and done their calculations based on age etc.

That's good that you're getting the NIPT test. That should tell you more and I've heard it doesn't take that long to get the results. I'm hoping you'll get good news soon. Smile For what it's worth, I've been there twice, once it was bad news but the NT was much higher, and once the NT was something like 3.2 or 3.3mm and turns out the baby just had a fat neck. Grin I know waiting is the worst part so just try and keep calm and try not to worry too much (easier said than done though!). Flowers

Hi @Kateb8020,

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a whirlwind of a week. Got an NT of 3.1 on Monday and opted for the CVS as, in combination with my bloods and age, I came out as very high risk for Down syndrome. I was much like you until I got the CVS results yesterday and got the all clear. I am booked in for the cardiac scan at 20 weeks but I find that thought more manageable. Hope all goes well for you.

One of my twins had high NT of 2.9mm and also no nasal bone, increasing our odds. My twins were born 2.5 weeks ago and all seems fine x

We’re in a similar position had a call from the midwife yesterday to say our risk was 1 in 5, I’m 40, NT was 3.1. We’ve booked an NIPT test for tonight, can’t stop worrying x

I’m having a NIPT test done tomorrow, earliest I could get. It’s such a worry. My NT was 3.2 I’m 38 and mine came back 1:88 so not too bad but considered high still. Fingers crossed for you

My NT was 3.2. Downs risk was 1:166. So no amnio or CVS as we didn’t quite meet the high risk category.

LaceyMermaid · 24/02/2021 07:14

Do you mind me asking how old you are @Sixtyorforty? My NT was 3.2 but I’ve come back as 1:88. I’m 38. They didn’t mention anything in my bloods.

Sixtyorforty · 24/02/2021 07:43

I was 35 at the time of test but 36 now. @LaceyMermaid

I had a NT of 3.2mm, aged 36 - I had the CVS, which came back clear, and extra scans throughout my pregnancy. I now have a healthy 17 month old.

I found waiting for results incredibly difficult - I really feel for everyone waiting and so hope everything turns out ok x

Oh @Kateb8020 I’m sorry you’ve got a longer time to wait, the waiting is the worst part. I had my NIPT test last night I’ve got 8-10 working days wait now xxx

Report
Sixtyorforty · 24/02/2021 08:08

My NIPT result was something like 1 in 39 million - I am currently 37 weeks pregnant.
