I just recieved my results from the combined test for screening trisomies. My results are:

Beta HCG 1.3
Papp A: 1.0
Is the MoM value for beta HCG A little High?

I'm not a medical professional therefore the only person you should really ask about this is your sonographer /midwife. However I believe that 1 is average. I can't imagine many people are bang on 1 and 1.3 doesn't seem too high to me at all.

@Liveforholidays this is absolutely correct.
@Lbho nothing at all to worry about.

I’ve never seen anyone with bang on 1MoM for anything before, I would imagine it’s quite rare to be that perfectly average! That PAPP-A result probably makes it seem unusual that the bHCG is ever so slightly above 1. To put it into context, my bHCG in my recent pregnancy was 4MoM which is pretty high, though I have seen results even higher. I did get a high risk result but all was ok in the end.

Thank you so much for your responses! I’m 40 years old so I am a little worried about my risk for trisomy 21

I will be 40 at birth of my son. My beta hcg was 2.0....papp a 0.37. This gave me a risk of 1 in 13! Unless your NT measurement is very high I'd fully imagine your screening results will be low risk. I wish I had your measurements. 😔

Fingers crossed.... We've had NIPT done which came back as 'highly unlikely' and all scans to date have been clear. It's the closest we're going to get without a diagnostic test.

Hey, I doubt there's anything to worry about. To put this in perspective - my HCG came back 4.3 and Papp-A was 0.35 - it was T21.

Report
Paranoidkaty · 26/03/2020 11:11

My hcg was 4.6! And my PAPPA was 0.6.
At 33 this gave me a 1:47 chance of t21.

No abnormalities on scan and nasal bone seen and NT was fine.
We had the harmony NIBT which gave low risk

@Liveforholidays
Please let me know your outcome. How far along are you now??

@Paranoidkaty hi! I'm 30 weeks now. Had a midwife appointment today. All looking good, growth on track, strong heartbeat. Nothing showed up on the 20 week, 23 uterine doppler scan or the 28 week growth scan so I'm starting to believe that the 'highly unlikely' result is correct. I, like you, do wish I'd had the amnio though for absolute peace of mind. How are you doing?

That’s great news and not long for you now!
Who’d have thought the stress of the screening bloods is now outweighed by the stress of social distancing for the whole of my 2nd trimester at least if not longer. I’m at home and so is my other half - not taking any risks.
I’ve got my 20w scan a week tomorrow and it’s at the fetal medicine centre in London as that’s where we went for harmony and a repeat 12w scan, which compared to the Nhs was so thorough and checked the heart and a tiny abdominal blood vessel as well as the nasal bone - this then adjusted my risk to 1:1300 (compared to 1:47 with bloods alone at Nhs).
I’m medical which I thinks a bad thing as have been researching none stop but I have relaxed a little about it now.
All just such a shock to receive those results.

Keep in touch and let us know how the next few weeks go! Xx

@Paranoidkaty this has been such a stressful pregnancy for so many reasons! Yes I'm now inclined to believe my high risk is due to bloods and my age alone. I've not had such in depth scans as you but as soon as they saw 1 in 13 in my notes they did look for extra carefully I think. I talked about it again today with a new midwife and she was very reassuring when she said that the NIPT was sufficient for my circumstances.

Hi, pic.

I received my results yesterday and was told I'm high risk for DS, I have been frantically googling and can't find any concrete information (to which I understand at least :-/).

My results @12 weeks were:
Age: 33
Free bHCG: 4.15 MOM
PAPP-A: 0.75 MOM
NT (neurologically typical): 1.25MOM

Overall risk: 1: 146
Mat age risk: 1: 557

My ultrasound didn't highlight any risk, my doctor was happy with all the measurements/nose bone etc.

I have to get a NIPT this week for further testing, I really hope it comes back clear, i'm trying to stay positive but can't help worrying.

@Paranoidkaty after reading your posts I feel more hopeful.

thanks

@Aquablue1123 do let me know what your NIPT comes back as.
I have my 20w scan in 2 days and will also update the forums.
Your results are similar to mine but slightly let skewed! I’m hopeful we are in the same situation xx

@Paranoidkaty Thank you, I feel so much better getting some advice on here, I was a mess last night and today. I'm hoping for a low risk result for the NIPT. Good Luck for your scan, I'm sure it will all be fine. xxx I will keep you updated.

Good luck @Paranoidkaty, it feels like a long road you've been on. So pleased you've now reached your scan date. I'm sure after your in depth scan and low risk nipt that everything will be OK, hopefully the scan will help to reassure you. Looking forward to hearing how you get on xx

@Liveforholidays @Aquablue1123 had my 20w scan today and all ok as far as the sonographer reports - no concerns seen.

Have an additional scan at 28w re high hcg.

I’m relieved. Other than high hcg. All else has been normal (nt, scans etc) and importantly the harmony blood test was low risk

Liveforholidays · 03/04/2020 21:15

Brilliant! I was thinking about how you got on. Did they mention the low risk harmony to you?

Paranoidkaty · 03/04/2020 22:07

@Liveforholidays Just that it was very accurate for t21 and came back low risk so things look good 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Paranoidkaty I think I responded to you on another thread a while back.

So pleased to hear your scan went well and you’re feeling relieved. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

@paranoidkaty that's great news, I'm glad it went well, very reassuring! Do you feel relieved now? Do you know your babies sex yet? Maybe that has something to do with the high HCG.

I got my NIPT bloods taken on Thursday so now it's just a waiting game, I just hope it comes back low risk. The measurements of the ultrasound are keeping me upbeat, I just have to remain positive.

Have a great weekend girls. Daffodil
