High nuchal fold... Your stories please!
(7 Posts)A brief history. I'm 16+5 weeks pregnant. At my 12 week scan I was actually 13+4 and the nuchal measured 4.1. Along with my bloods I was given a 1 in 30 chance of down syndrome. I had a CVS done and both sets of results have been clear. I had a heart scan for the baby and that was clear. Nuchal is now measuring 7, so still too high for the gestation. If no anomalies are picked up at the 20 week scan I will be discharged from specialist care and back to my local hospital. They told me I have to just 'let go' at that point and not worry. But the baby could still have something wrong that wasn't picked up. I'm looking for advice and personal experiences please!
I'm 34. Just wondering if anyone had healthy babies after this type of experience, and if not, what was the reason?
Hi Claudius. Sorry you are going through such a worrying and uncertain time. I had a high NT measurement and my baby had Downs Syndrome with multiple severe physical issues, and was unlikely to survive. I had a tfmr.
I would recommend the ARC-UK helpline both for practical information and for a supportive listening ear.
Obviously a high NT measurement is concerning, and frequently a sign of pro blems, but I certainly came across stories of things working out too.
Good luck to you x
Thank you @SylvanianFrenemies and so sorry that happened to you! I'm feeling very lucky to be at the point I'm at with no issues.x
Our result was 4.4mm, with a 1/5 chance of chromosomal abnormalities.
She's 6 months old now and she's fine x
I have twins and my twin 2's NT was 6.1mm as well as other worrying markers. Chromosome abnormality risk was 1:14. Twins are nearly 3 now and nothing wrong with either of them!
I had the exact same risk as you. It’s good your CVS came back clear. I was monitored more frequently with regular scans. My little boy was born perfect so please don’t worry! The chance of something being wrong now you've had a CVS is very low.
