CVS not possible

Me and my partner carry a genetic condtion we have a 1 in 4 chance of passing on.

Expected to have CVS at 11 weeks they couldn't do it went back at 12 still couldn't do it and I've been told it's not possible now due to placenta postion and the fact i have a tilted uteras.

My only option now is to wait for an amnio at 15 weeks i still have 2 and a half weeks to wait. If the baby is affected we will have to TFMR as baby would be severely disabled.

I just feel so down and didn't expect to go this far into a pregnancy without knowing.

No useful words, but sending a handhold.

I’m so sorry you have to wait, additional stress is not what you need now.

I needed a cvs for different reasons and had to wait for an amnio due to placental position, it was a tough few weeks.

I hope the next few weeks go quickly and you get good results Flowers

It's horrible waiting. I think uncertainty is harder to bear than bad news.
I had an amnio at 18 weeks. Physically, the procedure is much the same as cvs. Waiting for results is the same. Termination is just as upsetting however far on you are.
The only advice I have is do it in chunks. Do today. Deal with tomorrow as it comes.

Hi LBNM19

I hope you don't mind me contacting you as I've just been told that myself and husband are carriers of the same gene defect which causes Walker-Walburg Syndrome - with the same 1 in 4 odds as yourself which is frightening.

I really hate asking but what was the outcome of your amnio?

I'm currently 17 weeks and am so scared of an amnio for risk of miscarriage.

I don't mind my baby is healthy and I'm 37 weeks pregnant having him on Monday via c section.

I no how hard it is waiting to hear.

I have 3 other children to. My oldest son is effected which is how we found out we carry a genetic condtion.

My other 2 children are non effected, so my last 3 pregnancys haven't been effected by our condition. Same as you 1 in 4 chance each time. Xx

@LBNM19

I am so incredibly happy for you. Sending lots of love for the C-section next week and for the arrival of your gorgeous son :-)

We've decided to go with the amnio and it's taking place during our 19 week scan next Thursday. So so scared about the scan, the amnio and the results - my head's in overdrive. We just want a healthy baby.

Thank you so much for sending me your experience though, I've only seen negative stories really so this is a lovely change.

Best of luck again!

So sorry you have to wait - waiting is horrible I have a genetic condition which is 50/50 and I'm in same boat if baby is affected would be severely mentally and physically disabled so far we've had 1 healthy baby and 1 TFMR- we're ttc again but I just hope this time it will be ok!! I had CVS both times but the second time I felt really ill and it bruised much worse coz my placenta was in a worse position still at he front tho but at a weird angle - it was just gone 12 weeks when we had the TFMR😢 I think amino carries a lower mc risk tho on the plus side it's 1% as opposed to the 1-2% of CVS partly coz this is done earlier. Hope all goes ok for you at least a 75% chance of baby being ok are pretty good odds!
