Is an early private scan at 8 weeks worth it? My NHS appointment will be between 12 and 16 weeks

What are you going to do with the information?

I had a private early scan (8+2 I think), due to a previous miscarriage. I saw a little fluttery heartbeat and it was lovely.

Obviously it's no guarantee that everything will work out ok in the end but it made the wait for the nhs scan seem shorter!

It cost £99 but that was 4 years ago now.

What are you hoping to find out at such an early stage, and what would you do with that information?

I had an early scan at 9 weeks after previous mmc and glad I did it gave me peace of mind x

Personally it's not something I would do again. If you just want confirmation of a heartbeat then go for it.

We had a scan at 9 weeks and everything went well. Heartbeat and movement was amazing. However at 12 weeks we received the news our baby has Acrania and his skull did not form fully.

After the 9 week scan we told all friends and family as the sonographer made us feel nothing could go wrong. Maybe it was just the lady we had but I would just wait in future for 12 weeks when baby is more developed for peace of mind.
