Hi ladies, on Monday I will be 10 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and I am very very very anxious that the pregnancy is going to plan and that the baby is ok! I paid for an early scan at 7 weeks 3 days we seen the heart beat and they said they where happy with the growth and everything. I've just booked another scan for Sunday which is in 2 days for another early scan because I just cannot relax and want to know everything is ok. I then have my scheduled 12 week scan 2 weeks away, I told my family I was getting another early scan and they are concerned that all the scans could be harming the baby?? Are ultrasound scans safe for the baby, is that why they only offer you 2 throughout your pregnancy?? Now I'm really unsure weather to go through with the second scan I've just booked! Any responses would be good thank you x

They are completely safe.

For various reasons I had at least eight or nine NHS scans when I had my daughter.

They will scan you if they have any concerns about the baby, but otherwise you only really need the two that are standard, the NHS doesn't have endless resources!
