1:580 for Downs Syndrome

Just had my screening results. Nuchal was 2.6mm (same as my DS1) and I'm 38. DS1 was 1:850 at 36.

Would you do a harmony test or am I over worrying?

Thanks 🙏🏼

1:580 seems pretty low to me.
I didn't even get a risk factor, I was just told I was 'low risk' as it was less than 1:250

DD is now 9 and hasn't got Down's Syndrome. We were given a 1:8 chance on all our scans; I was 38. We are not in the UK and I am not sure what a harmony test is, but we did no further testing and she is fine. I have no idea what to advise, but I know how stressful this must be for you, OP.

Personally, I would not have had the NIPT with that result. I did because one twin was 1 in 85 chance but the harmony test came back clear. I think the odds you have been given is around the normal risk level for your age group and they are very good odds and I would have been reassured by that. Obviously its up to you, if it is going to play on your mind for the whole pregnancy it's worth paying to get a test done privately if it means its going to stop you worrying.

For DC2 I had a 1:155 risk, which is believe is just outside the high risk category. Nuchal was 3.5. I was worried but opted to not further test, reasoning that it was low risk for a reason, despite being close. I was 35 at the time. He does not have any chromosome abnormalities.

I would have the test. At least you then have the full picture. I can't remember what it "used to be", but I'm sure that the high risk cutoff point was changed to 1:250 in the time between my first and second pregnancies (ie you would have been considered high risk at a lower risk level previously, if that makes any sort of sense).

Please try not to worry - these tests are heavily weighted by your age and probability is very much on your side.

1:146 22 years ago aged 23. I refused further testing as amnio was more risky! I'd say yours is low x

Thanks everyone. I hard the harmony tonight, not too worried. Looking forward to hopefully feeling reassured and finding out the gender!

Was 1:2 with DS. Had a cvs and he looked fine. At 7 years is utterly NT.

Just to update - results back on day 8. 1 in 10000 for all trisonomies and a baby girl! Feel very lucky xx

That is great news, I have just been through the same thing a couple of weeks ago and was so relieved to get my Harmony test results back as low risk. Xx
